Though many of our customers come to us with ready-to-make 3 dimensional CAD designs, 3D-CAM also offers complete design support and consultation. When you need to create, design, or revise a product, our skilled staff can help with early-stage industrial and concept design as well as engineering and mechanical design to assist those customers who require “inventor” assistance (including help with converting your sketches or 2D drawings into CAD/CAM files for 3D Printing or CNC machining, mold or parts).

3D-CAM provides early-stage industrial and concept design as well as engineering and mechanical design to our customers, which are referred to as CAD/CAM services. In case you are unfamiliar with the terminology, CAD stands for Computer Aided Design and CAM stands for Computer Aided Manufacturing. A 3D CAD model is a 3d file created through a software program. Whereas 2 dimensional files end in .dwg, .dxf, .doc, .jpg, .pdf, etc. the following are some of the common 3D files:

.iges , STP, .STL , .x_t ,

When needed, our skilled staff can help with early-stage industrial and concept design as well as engineering and mechanical design to assist those customers who require “inventor” assistance (including help with converting your sketches or 2D drawings into CAD/CAM files for 3D Printing).

3D-CAM does not only cater to customers who come to us with ready-to-make 3 dimensional CAD designs. We are able to help all of our customers, even if you only have a rough sketch on a paper napkin.

Whether the design is as simple as a “hand held cup” or a complex mechanical assembly with multi-directional movements, we are able to guide customers through our service process from idea conception to a functional prototype.

How does our CAD/CAM design process work?

  • 1. If you already have a CAD file, the prototype can be created directly via 3D printing.
  • 2. Whether you have a drawing on a napkin or any 2-dimensional drawing/computer file, our team is able to create and convert into a 3D CAD model.
  • 3. Once the 3D CAD model is created, our team is ready to create the physical 3D prototype via 3D printing.

Note: We are unable to create prototypes that need to utilize fabric. We can build prototypes for all parts or physical products that are to be constructed with plastic/rubber/metal materials.
