Zap™ tooling is an excellent choice for production runs of hundreds or more of plastic injection parts shot in ABS, nylon, polycarbonate, acrylic and a variety of other polymers. The Zap™ process simultaneously delivers a zinc cast core and cavity mold that’s designed for plastic injection and can tolerate hundreds of shots before any noticeable deterioration occurs. We have been able to make up to 50,000 parts from a ZAP tool.
A typical Zap™ tool will cost 20-50% less than a machined aluminum tool and can be produced in less than ten days. Plastic injection-molded parts can be delivered within 2 to 3 days following approval of the first article.
Zap Tooling Highlights
Zap™ Tooling is the ideal choice for:
- Fast turn around due to reduced tooling time
- Low tooling costs
- Short runs and prototype parts from thermoplastics.
- High quality parts from a wide range of materials
- Small to medium volumes, up to 1000 parts.

Material choices include:
- Nylon 66-6
- Polystyrene
- Polycarbonate
- ABS Molded
- Polypropylene Molded
